Most wood sealers only seal the surface. But Trojan Beta-Z Wood Sealer penetrates the fibers of the wood leaving only a little on the surface. This gives a deeper seal thereby giving better protection for your wood. We recommend after the Trojan Beta-Z is dry to apply either our Clear Armor Coat for Wood or our  Elastomeric Exterior Coating to give a long lasting finish. We recommend that latex paints NOT be used over Trojan Beta-Z since they only make a mechanical seal. Because the pores of the wood are sealed the latex paint can not grab hold. Use only good quality acrylic, oil base, epoxy or polyurethane coatings. 

Good surface preparation is essential to satisfactory coating of any surface. All surfaces should be clean of dust, dirt, grease, oil and free of biological growth such as algae and mildew. A good product to accomplish this is EnviroClean Degreaser and Algae/Mildew Cleaner. Rinse the surface thoroughly. If outside and the application permits, pressure wash to remove all dirt and soil. Allow to dry thoroughly. Apply one (1) coat thoroughly saturating the surface by either brushing, rolling or mechanical sprayer. This is NOT paint. Let the wood "drink" as much as it will hold. If the wood is weather, two (2) coats may be necessary. Allow to dry. The surface is now ready for either Clear Armor Coat for Wood, Elastomeric Exterior Coating or any coating mentioned above of your choice.
